The Computer Application Department of BIMS College is a hub for fostering technological education and developing students' programming and system-related competencies. The department launched its Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) programme in 2023 under Calicut University's Choice-Based Credit System (CBCSS). This three-year programme aims to provide students with a strong foundation in computer science, equipping them with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in programming, software development, and system operations.
In 2024, the department introduced a four-year BCA Honours Degree Programme, under Calicut University's CUFYUGP (Calicut University Four-Year Undergraduate Programme). This course is designed to align with the evolving demands of the IT industry, integrating advanced subjects and research components. Notably, the 2024 BCA Honours programme is affiliated with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), ensuring its curriculum meets national standards and prepares students for professional excellence.
Admissions to the Computer Application Department follow the norms and guidelines established by Calicut University. The department primarily serves students from rural backgrounds, many of whom enter with limited exposure to information technology.
